(1) Panama City meets Kuna Yala
9 days, 8 nights
Overview:
Since the Canal was built in 1904, Panama has been the crossroads for business and people. The Canal saves shippers loads of time and money by opening its locks. Get the chance of a lifetime to see the Canal in person by actually riding a ship through the famed Miraflores Locks. Then, explore the vibrant and international capital of Panama City. This city has arguably the most impressive skylines of any in Latin America. Your last few days in Panama could be the best. Fly to the remote San Blas islands to explore the mysterious Kuna Yala people who inhabit the archipelago. San Blas likes to boast an island for every day of the year, but the truth is there are more than 365 islands stretched along this coral chain of atolls.
The Basics:
Fly into Panama City for a 4 nights stay. Tour the sights of historic Panama City, Monkey Island, and the Panama Canal. You will be one aboard of the 14,000 vessels that pass through the canal each year. Fly to the San Blas islands for another four nights in one of the most remote islands of the world. Chill out on palm-fringed, white-sand beaches atop coral reefs. Eat fresh fish, kayak, and snorkel and sleep the day away in hammocks as you get a firsthand account of the Kuna way of life.
